Digital Democracy: Opportunities and Challenges

This research aims to explore the concept of digital democracy within the context of the digital age, which has become a defining feature of new media. The paper first addresses digital democracy in terms of its concept and mechanisms. Secondly, it examines the opportunities available to promote and consolidate digital democracy and advance democratic transformation. Thirdly, it discusses the key issues and challenges that hinder the entrenchment of digital democracy in terms of both process and substance. The paper concludes with a number of important findings.
