Characteristics of Language Development in Children Aged 4–6 Years Attending and Not Attending Kindergartens in Tripoli

This study aimed to identify the characteristics of language development among children aged 4 to 6 years who are attending and not attending kindergartens in Tripoli, Libya. The study sample consisted of children aged between 4 and 6 years, selected randomly, with a total number of 200 children divided into two groups. The first group included 100 children attending kindergarten, with 50 males and 50 females. The second group included 100 children not attending kindergarten, also with 50 males and 50 females.
The descriptive method was used, and the study tool was the Developmental Characteristics Assessment Battery for Kindergarten Children (4–6 years), prepared by Suhair Kamel Ahmed and Batros Hafiz Batros (2008). The tool was applied to the mothers of the non-attending children and to both the teachers and mothers of the attending children.
The results showed statistically significant differences in the average language development scores in favor of children attending kindergarten. The results also indicated statistically significant differences in the average language development scores between males and females, favoring females among children attending kindergarten.
