Abstract:
The concept of Knowledge Management (KM) emerged from various administrative practices and modern developments in administrative sciences, including ideas such as Business Process Reengineering (BPR), Total Quality Management (TQM), Information Systems Management, Learning Organizations, Organizational Learning, Strategic Management, and Organizational Behavior, among others. It is one of the contemporary concepts that has gained clear and significant attention.
The absence of a clear methodology and mechanism for managing knowledge leads to the waste of resources and significant loss of effort spent searching for information and reinventing knowledge that already exists implicitly among individuals within the organization. This also causes delays and hesitations in decision-making and execution at the right time, negatively impacting the overall effectiveness and efficiency of organizational performance, productivity, and the level of services provided.
This study focuses on presenting the concept of Knowledge Management, its importance, objectives, and the benefits of applying it in institutions. The study concludes with a set of findings and recommendations that aim to contribute to activating the practice of Knowledge Management in university educational institutions in Libya.
