Digital Democracy: Opportunities and Challenges

Abstract.
This research seeks to approach the concept of digital democracy within the context of the digital age, which has become a hallmark of new media. The paper first discusses digital democracy in terms of its concept and mechanisms. Secondly, it addresses the opportunities available to establish and promote digital democracy in the process of democratic transformation. Thirdly, the paper presents the issues and challenges that hinder the consolidation of digital democracy, both in terms of process and substance. Finally, the paper concludes with a set of important findings.
